LCVP "Higgins Boat"
BMC #49998 was released in 1991 and is based on the World War II LCVP landing craft vehicle personnel (a.k.a. Higgins boat) that could carry either 36 troops, a 3-ton vehicle or four tons of cargo from ship to shoreline. Although it was typically constructed of wood with a metal ramp, the Higgins boat quickly became a crucial component in the pacific theater during World War II. Nearly 20,000 were built during it's 15 year production run.
This 1/35 scale replica measures 12.5" L x 3.9" W x 3" H and features a forward-mounted working ramp with fairly sturdy hinges. While not quite as detailed as the Sherman or Amtrac (and missing the two aft-mounted .30 cal machine guns) it makes up for it by holding up to approximately 15 of your favorite 54mm toy soldiers. It's molded in a gloss grey plastic. They are sold individually or as part of the D-Day Utah Beach Playset.
