The Battle of Iwo Jima
On
February 23rd, 1945, Ira Hayes, Franklin Sousley, Michael Strank, John
Bradley, Rene Gagnon, and Harlon Block raised the second flag on Mt.
Suribachi. It replaced a smaller flag raised earlier that day by Hank
Hansen, Boots Thomas, John Bradley, Phil Ward, Jim Michaels and Chuck
Lindberg. The iconic photograph was taken by Joe Rosenthal.
This historical playset was specifically adapted and developed from the original designs produced by King & Country for it's partnership with BMC Toys. This 1/32 traditional scale 60 piece set includes 24 Marines, 6 Marines raising the flag, 24 Japanese soldiers, M4 Sherman tank, LVT-2 Amtrac, and a large mountain with bunkers and removable top section depicting Mount Suribachi and the flag raising on the island of Iwo Jima, February 23rd, 1945. The #40013 Iwo Jima Playset is the crowning glory of the entire BMC product line.
